2017 Christmas Tree Lighting Fundraiser


The 2017 Avenues Christmas Tree Fundraiser has begun!


The cost this year is $22 per tree. 
Flyers are going out this week and next week via trashcan roll carts. 

The deadline to turn your order in is Saturday, November 18. 

Please take your orders to your street representative (see the back of your flyer), or bring it to the Avenues meeting on Thursday, November 16, which is being held at 6:30 in the Fellowship Hall of State Street Baptist.

August Meeting Reminder

Meeting Reminder

Our August Association meeting will be Thursday, August 17 at 6:30 p.m. Meetings typically last about an hour. The meeting will be held in the Fellowship Hall (basement) of State Street Baptist Church, located at the corner of State Street & L Avenue.

A public safety officer will at be the meeting to give us an update on crime in our are and note any attendee concerns.


Membership Renewal

As a reminder, membership renewals were due June 1. If you were not able to attend our meeting to pick up a renewal application , you can download an application HERE. Application and membership dues may be turned in at the meeting or mailed to our PO Box.

Guest Speaker:  Shaun Greenwood

Shaun is the Assistant City Manager for the City of Cayce. He'll be joining us to give updates:
  • the ongoing city-wide waterlines project
  • old Cayce grammar school (spoiler alert: there's demo happening)
  • upcoming city events and more.

Food Drive in memory of Linda Keisler Meetze

Long-time director of God's Helping Hands, Linda Keisler Meetze passed away in May 2017. To honor her memory and support Gods Helping Hands (which gives support to many families in Cayce), we'd like to make a special push to collect items to present to them in August.

If you are able, please consider picking up any of these items for our drive:
  • Canned fruits & veggies
  • Canned meats (such as tuna, chicken, Spam)
  • Canned soup
  • Pop-top meals
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Peanut butter
  • Cereal
  • Cooking oil
  • Dried beans
  • Juice
  • Jello
  • Personal toiletry items (such as bar soap, shampoo, toothpaste)

If you are not able to bring the items to the meeting, please send an email or Facebook message and we will coordinate picking them up.

Guest Speaker: Artist Chris Robinson 

Southern Lights, a long-term art installation by Chris Robinson, will span the Congaree River between Blossom Street and Gervais Street bridges for a decade. The laser installation is scheduled to light up every evening in Cayce, West Columbia and Columbia every evening for the next decade, launching on Saturday, August 19 as part of the Total Solar Eclipse Weekend celebrations.

Chris will be joining us to tell us more about the installation and answer questions. This a great time to get some behind-the-scenes knowledge about the upcoming signature art attraction.

Guest Speaker: Leo Redmond, Cayce Historical Museum

Leo is the director of our local historical museum and one of our most popular guest speakers. Previous talks have included sharing artifacts from the Revolutionary & Civil Wars, tracing signs of Native American inhabitants in our area, and explaining the history of neighborhood tree lighting project.

You'll definitely want to come here which piece of local history Leo will be sharing with us at the meeting.

May 20: Governor's Cup Half Marathon Spirit Corp

The Lexington Medical Center Governor’s Cup Half Marathon will run through our neighborhood on the morning of Saturday, May 20.

We're planning to cheer the runners on!

Start your day at 900 L Avenue cheering on the half marathoner as they trek along L and M Avenues on Saturday. We can’t think of a better way to show off our neighborhood as a great place to live than coming out to encourage these long distance runners.

Be in place at 900 L Avenue in your Avenues T-shirt by 7:15am and be ready to cheer!  We anticipate the last runner to come through around 8:30am. We will supply the music so come prepared to jam out and ROCK THE AVENUES!

Need a t-shirt? No problem!

We'll have them for sale at the meeting tomorrow night. Cost is $15 for members and $20 for non-members. If you can't attend the meeting but still need a shirt, send us an email or a Facebook message.

The City Manager & Assistant City Manager will be giving us updates on the upcoming water line replacements in our neighborhood and other City of Cayce News.

We have an ongoing food drive to benefit God's Helping Hands. This month, they have a specific need for saltine crackers and canned fruit. They also accept monetary donations.

Thank you on their behalf for any help you can provide. You can bring any donation items to the meeting, and we'll be happy to take them to God's Helping Hands. Or you can drop them off at 919 Holland Ave, Cayce, SC 29033.
