Progress for reducing speeding on the Avenues is being made! Last night Cayce Council endorsed the SCDOT plan for enhancing the stop sign flow on the Avenues. The Yellow and Red dots are the changes that will occur. Also, if you notice at the top, there will also be a new stoplight at 7th and Knox Abbott to allow another easy access route from BCHS. There also will be crosswalks at L Ave and 6th and 7th streets as well as Holland and State and Frink and Julius Felder.
We have not seen the implementation plan, but SCDOT did say in April that it would be phased in. Once a schedule is available, we will make sure it is distributed.
This is only the first step in this process. Once the sign changes have been implemented, they will be evaluated to make sure they are sufficient or need to be tweaked. New speed studies will need to be done after the installation as well to help determine the next steps.
Please continue to give us your feedback so we can pass it along to Chief Cowan.

April 7th Avenues Meeting

Our April Avenues Association Meeting featured Cayce City Manager, Tracy Hegler. Tracy addressed many neighborhood concerns as well as proposed changes to the stop signs within the Avenues. SCDOT has sent a final recommendation for the State - 12th Street stop sign realignment and included resident recommendations from our February meeting. The Axtell curve and upper L Avenue (above 12th street is still being studied).
Tracy was joined by representatives from Cayce Police and Code Enforcement as usual.
